Necessary Family Meetings

This week, we are discussing family meetings and why they are necessary. As we think about family, communicate, and how we're trying to grow our family to be the best version of themselves, meetings are necessary. Both formal, sit-down, "come to Jesus" meetings, but also the informal, in passing conversations. Both are necessary.

We have found with our kids that the best meetings are the ones that just "pop up" - where they bring up scenarios or situations, friends, challenges, hopes and dreams, etc...when they start speaking, we start listening and then have the opportunity to speak into their lives.

Now, sometimes formal meetings are necessary. We need to have a family discussion, we need to correct something, or whatever the case might be. We have formal meetings and one of those meetings happens every year on January 1st when we sit down to talk about and dream about the goals we have for the upcoming year.

It's meaningful, it helps set the tone, and it's intentional time together, looking forward to what's ahead.

So our encouragement for you: have the family meeting. Schedule it out far enough where people can plan for it. But use that time to speak life into your family. Use that time to correct, teach, coach, and encourage. Invest in your family. You won't regret it.
